Surveys
Our survey and written quote are free and place you under no obligation. We will only go onto the roof where it is safe to do so. If we cannot reach part of the roof safely, we will tell you and note it on the survey sheet, together with any assumption the quote relies on as a result.
Quotes
Each quote is in writing, itemised and based on the readings on the attached survey sheet. Unless the quote states otherwise, it is valid for 30 days from its date, because product prices and availability change. After that we will confirm the price again before going ahead.
The quote describes the work included. Anything not listed, such as decorating beyond what is stated or work on parts of the roof outside the area we are fitting into, is not included unless we agree it in writing.
Accepting a quote and deposits
A contract is formed when you accept the quote in writing, by email, WhatsApp or by signing it. We will then confirm the expected dates.
We only ask for a deposit if the quote says so, and the quote will state the amount and what it is for, usually ordering a unit made to the measured size. If no deposit is shown, none is due.
Your right to cancel
If the contract is agreed at your home, or by email, phone or message without meeting at our premises, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel without giving a reason. That right starts on the day the contract is made. For work only, it ends 14 days later; where the contract includes supplying a rooflight or other goods, it ends 14 days after they are delivered to you. To cancel, tell us clearly in writing, by email or WhatsApp. We will refund any payment within 14 days of hearing from you.
If you want us to start work or order a made-to-size unit within the 14 days, you must ask us to in writing. If you then cancel, you may have to pay for work done up to that point and for a unit already made to your measurements, which cannot be returned or used elsewhere. If you asked us to start and confirmed you understood this, the right to cancel the work ends once it is fully completed.
Access and the site
You agree to give us reasonable access to the property, the roof and the room below on the agreed dates, and to clear furniture and belongings from the work area. We will protect floors and furnishings near the work and leave the area tidy each day.
If access needs a neighbour's permission, such as for a tower or scaffold on shared land, we will tell you at the survey. Arranging that permission is your responsibility unless we agree otherwise.
What we find when the roof is opened
We measure carefully, but some things cannot be seen until the covering or ceiling is opened up: rotten or undersized timber, an earlier alteration that was not built correctly, damaged decking or hidden services. If we find something like this that affects the work, we will stop, show you, explain the options and give you a written price for any extra work. We will not carry it out without your agreement, though we will always leave the roof weathertight.
Permission and Building Regulations
We will give you our view on whether planning permission is likely to be needed, based on the checks set out on the survey sheet. The planning authority makes the decision. Where the work is notifiable under Building Regulations, we will arrange for it to be signed off and pass you the certificate. Any fees for this are shown on the quote.
Payment
Unless the quote sets out stage payments, the balance is due on completion, when we have finished the work and shown it to you. We will send an invoice by email. Payment is by bank transfer to the account shown on the invoice. We will never change our bank details by message; if you receive such a request, check it with us first.
Guarantees
Our workmanship is guaranteed for ten years as described on our guarantee page. The unit carries its manufacturer's own guarantee.
Liability
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill and use materials of satisfactory quality, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires. If we damage your property while working, we will put it right or pay for it to be put right. We are not responsible for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our failing to meet these terms, or for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather or a supplier failing to deliver. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Complaints and law
If something is not right, please follow our complaints procedure. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
