our guarantee

Our 10-Year Workmanship Guarantee

Every installation we carry out comes with a 10-year workmanship guarantee. It covers the way we fitted the unit and the roof around it; the unit itself carries its maker's product guarantee.

covered

Workmanship we put right

The guarantee covers our work: the way we fitted your skylight, rooflight, roof window or lantern, and the parts of the roof we built or altered to take it. For ten years from the date the job is finished, if any of that work proves faulty, we will put it right at no cost to you.

In practice that means:

  • the fixing of the frame to the roof structure, and any trimming of rafters or joists we carried out;
  • the flashing kit, underfelt collar and roof covering we refitted around a roof window;
  • the kerb or upstand we built for a flat rooflight or lantern, and the roof finish we dressed over it;
  • the seal between the unit and the kerb or flashing, where we formed it;
  • the making good inside that was part of the quote, such as the lined reveal or the finished ceiling opening.

If water comes in because the flashing was dressed wrongly or the kerb was formed badly, that is our workmanship and it is covered.

the unit

Where the manufacturer's guarantee applies

The rooflight or roof window itself, including its glass, sealed unit, hinges, motor and controls, is covered by its maker's product guarantee. The length and terms vary by maker and by product, and we give you the details for your unit with the handover paperwork.

You do not have to work out which guarantee applies. Tell us about the problem and we will look at it. If the cause is a product fault, we will help you raise it with the maker and, where their terms allow, fit the replacement part.

not covered

Exclusions

To be fair to both sides, the guarantee does not cover:

  • damage caused by storms, falling branches, impact or fire;
  • alterations, roofing work or other changes made around the unit by someone else after we finished;
  • parts of the roof we did not work on, such as an existing flat roof finish beyond the area we dressed;
  • normal wear, and the routine care a maker asks for, such as keeping gutters and the area around a flat rooflight clear;
  • faults in the product itself, which sit with the manufacturer under the maker's product guarantee.

If an issue is not covered, we will still give you our view of the likely cause.

making a claim

How to tell us about a problem

  1. Email us or send a WhatsApp message with your name, address and the approximate date of the work.
  2. Describe what you have noticed and attach photos, both inside and, if you can see it safely, outside. Please do not go onto the roof.
  3. We will reply to arrange a visit and inspect the work.
  4. If the fault is in our workmanship, we agree a date and put it right. If it is not, we explain why in writing.

Keep your quote and survey sheet with your house papers. They show exactly what we fitted and when.

selling your home

If you move house

The guarantee stays with the property. If you sell during the ten years, the new owner can rely on it for the time remaining. Please pass them your paperwork, and they can contact us in the same way.

your rights

Your statutory rights

This guarantee is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which require a service to be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and goods supplied to be of satisfactory quality and as described. Nothing in this guarantee reduces those rights.

Our terms and conditions and complaints procedure set out the rest. For how the work is planned before any of this applies, see the measured survey.
